How to make delicious easy Lattes at home!

We finally got some measurable snow, along with some of the coldest weather St. Louis has seen in 10 years. Temps have been in the single digits with windchills below zero! BRRRR
School was canceled yesterday and again today.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter - you probably hear me talk about making yummy lattes at home. So far this year we've been making Pumpkin Spice & Mocha Peppermint and occasionally just vanilla.

I always get asked how me make them........

With all of this COLD COLD weather, we've been making them almost daily, so I thought I'd snap a few pictures and tell you how we make them!! They're so easy and fun!

There are a few "must haves"......

First you need one of these babies:
Cocoa Latte Maker! We LOVE this thing! You can find it here Cocoa Latte Maker

Now, the Cocoa Latte Maker comes with a nice little recipe book and we mostly use the Caffe Latte recipe and make a basic Vanilla Latte.----which is very good!! But we wanted to kick it up a notch and get fun flavors like you can get at Starbucks.

My secret ingredient? Coffee-Mate's Flavored Liquid Creamers!! We've been using Pumpkin Spice (available Nov- Jan) and Mocha Peppermint, - we will try other flavors when we run out of these.

So here's what you need
Pumpkin Spice Lattes
(printable recipe here)

1 cup milk (we use 1% or 2% for lower fat)
1 cup Coffee- Mate Pumpkin Spice Liquid Creamer (you could use any flavor you wish)
1 Tbsp Instant Coffee (you can use less if you don't want as much coffee flavor)
1/2 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp Vanilla Syrup (we use Sugar Free)
Whip cream
sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon

Add the first 5 ingredients to the Cocoa Latte Maker and press "ON". When it turns its self off, Dispense into mug and top with Whip Cream and sprinkle with spices. Serves 2

For your viewing pleasure.....................
I thought I'd share some shots of Cullen in his first snow.

and one of Sunshine sledding

Have a GREAT weekend! and stay WARM if it's cold where you are!

Great!! I got a Mr. Coffee Espresso maker for Christmas, and I am having a hard time getting my mochas to taste right. I have some Starbucks ground espresso, and I even bought some Torani Chocolate Milano and Torani Peppermint syrups online. I think maybe I need to get a different chocolate syrup...perhaps the Chocolate Milano was too dark....

Good post! :)

Oh yum! I love how you sprinkle it with spices on the top, too! Who needs to travel in the cold to buy these? Just make 'em at home! =-D

okay! I just ordered the latte machine through your amazon thingy. I have been trying for over a year to make yummy lattes at home using a steamer ,/espresso machine. And they just dont taste good. So, I going to give your way a shot! I have the machine that #3 Amanda has. My neighbor has it too and she makes wonderful cappucinos w/ it. I have even had her come over and show me how to make them and they just dont taste right. I done spending 12 dollars on a bag of coffee for that machine. Maybe it is because I like the fluffy coffee drinks, like you make. Who knows. I'll keep you posted. Aimee

Looks yummy Cheryl! And you got a lot more snow than we did - lucky girl. I so wanted to go sleigh riding - oh well, not this time. Thanks for the "warm up" recipe. At zero degrees - everybody can use one of these! Happy Winter, Cathy
