I'm Lovin' It! - New Window Treatments & Endust Giveaway!

Welcome to the Party!!
*****************

Have I ever told you that I'm terrible with making choices? I think that's why I don't change things in my house very often, because it's exhausting for me to choose new items.

A while back I decided it was time for new window treatments in my kitchen.
I was tired of the old red and white checked that I've had up there for years!!

curtains "before"

I've been looking, and like always, I just didn't see anything that screamed "THIS IS IT!"

until one day I clicked.........

here

and that was my "AH HA" moment!

THAT is what I wanted for my windows!!

Brittany was so sweet and shared that she MADE her valances with a roll of vintage toweling.

Toweling is 16" wide fabric that is used to make towels....but it's PERFECT for window valances!! The only thing I needed to do was hem the 2 short ends and clip them up!!

June 11, 2010 (162/365)

I bought new rods, and they took me longer to hang than it did to iron and make my valances!

SOOOO much better don't you think?

I love the colors......it allows me to keep my reds, and add the blue, yellow and green!

new kitchen curtains (take 3)

What do you think?

This was SOOO easy.
You could even use fabric glue if you don't want to sew.

If you're interested.....
  • I purchased from a FANTASTIC lady on ebay vintage_mkt
  • I paid $2.15 per 1/2 yard
  • I doubled the width of my windows and left a "tail" hanging on each end" -I had 2 windows 35" and one window 70" - I bought 10 yds. I used 4 yds on the 70" window, 2 yds on each of the 35" windows over the sink and I have 2 extra yards for another project.

*************************

With my new window treatments up, it really motivated me to get the rest of the house cleaned!!

The good people at Endust recently sent me a new product to try, Endust Free Dusting and Cleaning spray, which reduces allergens on surfaces and in the air. This cleaning spray recently received the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Mark from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, making it the first fragrance-free, hypoallergenic dusting and cleaning product scientifically-proven to work.

When my home is totally dusted I feel better! And now I can feel better doing it!

Besides being free of fragrances, Endust Free Dusting & Cleaning Spray has a unique, hypo-allergenic formula that contains less-irritating ingredients and has an innovative dispensing system that features a narrow-directed spray to reduce bothersome lingering mist and overspray. The product also has a twist-and-lock cap to protect against accidental spraying. Many products that create a lingering mist after spraying can diminish good indoor air quality and lead to indoor allergies by introducing chemicals with high amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which may also trigger allergic reactions.

My mom always told me to just use a damp cloth to dust with.....

According to research by Allergy Standards Ltd., Endust Free removes up to 90% more dust mite allergen than damp dusting and up to 92% more dust mite allergen than dry dusting

Your new curtains are perfect! They match your wall colour so well and with all the other colours in them your decorating possibilities are super.
Love the fact that you have a corner window in your kitchen. It all looks very inviting.

You did a fabulous job with the curtains. They look great!!

Dusting is one of my least favorite chores...ranks up there with grating 5lb blocks of cheese by hand. I probably dust every 2 weeks.

Oh my word--I LOVE LOVE HEART HEART your new curtains!! I love vintage towels--so this would be perfect in my kitchen!! Mind if I copy? :-)

And, the how much do I dust question...I'm not sure I want to embarrass myself... Is "Not very often" specific enough?

Happy Friday, happy weekend!

The curtains look FAB Cheryl! I can't tell you how many YARDS of homespun fabric I've bought planning on making my own curtains. And it just sits in a tote. Crazy!!
I try my best to dust at least every other week. I'm the same as you though, I've always just used a damp rag. In the winter though, since we have a woodstove I have to dust more like every few days just to keep up w/ it. :-(
Have a great day! Jennifer

Those curtains are really cute - they brighten up the kitchen so nicely!

As for dusting - it's part of my Saturday morning cleaning rituals. If it looks a little Haunted Mansion-y before Saturday rolls around (A/C seems to kick up so much dust), I'll do some touch-ups.

My email addy is in my profile :)

I usually use just a damp cloth, but sometimes I'll use a dusting spray. I've also been known to, after wiping down my little girl's face with a baby wipe, on the way to the trash can, trying to see what I can dust with IT, on the way! LOL :)

I have dark furniture and a house that is a magnet for dust--not a good combination! It looks like I haven't dusted for a month when it has only been a few days. So I kinda just give up on the majority of the house when no one is around but dust constantly when people are visiting. I do a quick dust of the front room every 2-3 days just in case of drop by visitors.

Tres cute! How embarrassing to admit that I only dust once a week. It's actually one of my favorite chores since that's always done last, after everything else is sparkling. Huh. Guess that's why it's only done once a week..

I really like the new valances! That yellow is so pretty, and to be able to keep your red and add the blue is great!

As for how often I dust...? Oh my goodness. I live in Colorado which is SO dry, on top of that we live on right next to railroad tracks! The dust is never ending. To add to that my husband and I both have asthma and I have horrible allergies on top of that. I hate dusting because the dust and the spray I use make me sneeze uncontrollably. I'd love to try this asthma/allergy friendly dust spray~!
