I want to paint my office!

We are going to move our home office to another room in our house.

So I get to paint!

and I want to make it a pretty office!

I went to Lowes and had them mix 2 paint samples for me!

This was GREAT because it gives me a chance to put the 2 colors up in the room and see which one I like best.

This is where you come in!

Sunshine and I both liked the same one,

the Bug Man liked the other color.

All of my house is painted in darker country colors

- I want my office to be bright and fresh.

This is Sunshine's old room - it's pink right now, so I put a piece of

white poster board up next to the colors

so we could get a true picture sample.

Leave me a comment and let me know which color you like.

I'm updating this post

with pictures of where I saw these 2 colors so you can see them in a room setting.

Color choice A

Valspar -Woodlawn Valley Haze

(picture from Lowes)

Color choice B

Benjamin Moore - Wedgewood Gray

From It's the Little Things That Make a House a Home

be sure to click the link to her blog- she's has an amazing home!

Tomorrow I will share pictures of my existing office,

so you can see what I have to work with.

I want to paint the desks and get some great accessories.

Lets start with the paint!

I like A better. B looks very grey and drab, but maybe that's because there's pink all around it?

I have what looks like "b" in the room pic and I love it. Mine is called "Lake Breeze" American Tradition paint from Lowes

I think I love B- it looks warm & refreshing- you could go very beachy with that color or bring in the browns for a chic look.

you don't know me, really and I guess that my vicarious reading and watching your home renovations is well just that. vicarious. But I can tell you from experience, you'll tire of the "A" blue faster than the "B" blue. The "B" color is greyed a bit and easier on the eyes and you'll find it "cleaner" looking in the long run. Just my opinion

I like them both, but for bright and airy, I would pick, "A."

Turquoise/Aqua colors are hard to pick, I know. I bought "Heavenly Blue" by Benjamin Moore because I saw a room on Rate My Space that was the inspiration for my bedroom. But when I tested the paint in my laundry room, it was darker than it looked online and more 'gray'. I wanted aqua-ish. So, I ended up with "Spa" by Behr and love it.

Which one do you like better? Who spends the most time in the room?

Good luck choosing, it's always the hardest choice when painting!

PS: Have you tried the online tools at Behr.com and SherwinWilliams.com ? Maybe Valspar has it, too? I kno with Behr's site, you can upload your pic and 'paint' the room, very cool!

Thanks everyone!!

To answer all of Bella's questions
My favortie is B, like Deb said I'm afraid I'd get tired of the green in A. I think I like the blueish grey better than the green turquoise.

My hubby has his own business - so we both use this office space, but I definitely spend the most time in it.

Valspar only let's you try the colors out in their room settings - I'll check out Behr and SW to see if I can upload my picture to see. ~ The room the office is in now is directly below where it's moving to - so light and size are the same.

Thanks!!

Hi Cheryl,

Do a search for Benjamin Moore Heavenly Blue. I bet you would like it...and it is sort of in between the 2 colors you have there, so it might be a nice compromise for you and hubby. It does have more gray than green too, like you are looking for.

I like color "b" -- you'll have more options as it's a warmer color. Color "a" is very nice but you really have to pop it with mono-tone accents (white or black).

While "b" looks drab against the Pink (don't forget to PRIME or that pink will affect the color -- trust me on this one!), on a white primed wall it will be lovely!

Thanks "TheParentHive" - but I have my samples painted on the pink, so isn't that how it will look when I paint the whole room over the pink? If I'd prime it, it will change what I'm looking at right?

Thanks!

Yes, the paint color will change if you prime. It will be a truer color than to the pictured samples. I'd prime a small section and test!

A will have to have the black or cocoa brown accents along with the white to make it pop where B you can do a lighter brown, or tans...or whatever...I know because my daughter just did hers in the A color! It is gorgeous but she accented in the black and white..and brown and whites..such as pic frames...and wall decor...good luck..!btw country colors in your home then go with B!

Thanks Erin - when I post the pictures of my office desks and what not - you will see what a mess of stuff I have LOL - I think I'll paint my desks white and accent in black - unless everyone thinks painting in black would look better! LOL

check back tomorrow or wed for more "help needed"

I like B best - I also think it would go best with the rest of your house. :)

Well on the wall I thought B looked nicer, but then on the pictures where a room is painted I definatly like A better it just looks so much brighter and fresh looking! Good luck deciding.

I am liking choice A! Of course, I am really crushing on turquoise lately, anyway. I would love to see it with white trim and red accents.

Can't wait to see what you do!

When I saw the paint, I liked A, it is close to what I have in my office. I have something like mountain mist and it is a green shade with a hint of blue, very calming. But when I see them in the room, the blue looks much better. I always put the paint swatch in the room and look at it on each wall, you would be amazed at how a change in light can change the color.

I was gonna say A before even seeing the pix of the room A and now I know why!

Pretty!

B for blue is the other baby color..so I think since it's your own office room it should be about you!
