The Halls are Decked!

Please, come in from the cold.........

The Nester says, "I cannot wait to see your creative, beautiful, imperfect homes."

Did you hear that last part? IMPERFECT HOMES!! yep!

If you surf enough blogs, it's easy to think everyone has a perfect home, perfectly decorated, perfectly clean and they have it all PERFECTLY together!! The truth is, most of us have imperfect homes.

My home is NOT a perfectly decorated home at Christmas, it's not full of several beautiful wreaths, wonderfully arranged displays, we only have one Christmas tree, and a few areas to display.

My tastes are changing, so I have a mix of Christmas decorating PAST and Christmas decorating PRESENT, while in envision Christmas decorating FUTURE! Chestnuts are NOT roasting on the open fire (I wish we had a fireplace!) and Jack frost is NOT nipping at my nose (since we can't seem to get any snow here in St. Louis)

But it's OUR home! Our beautifully lived in, loved in HOME!

So come along, grab a cup of hot cocoa, you don't even need to bother getting dressed! ......note to self, learn how to take better pictures indoor with low light! Christmas decor is hard to photograph! If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them! (I know getting a prime lens will make a difference - do you hear that Santa?)

First up, is our tree!

These things look SO much better in person, but you get the idea....

We went "fake" several years ago. I still miss the fresh tree sometimes, but I sure don't miss the mess.

Christmas Trees
hosted by A Baby Changes Everything

Come post your trees!

***************************************

This display includes my Dollar Tree jars and candy I made in THIS POST.

I really like how they look in this spot, but like the tree, the pictures don't do it justice.

This wreath is another one of my new (inexpensive) additions this year!

Check back on Wed when I post how I made this wreath!
(it's different than the one I made last year)

I made an ornament ball wreath last year, and I even posted "how-to" instruction (click here to see that wreath)Our Santa and reindeer shelf,

Our Snowman collection/display.

A cute little tree by our front door that I tuck into a crock.

So that's it for the Christmas decor in our house.
Hundreds
of bloggers will be opening up their doors to showcase their
Christmas decor.

Our home is like yours imperfect, hard not to be with a 2 year old boy. We have a new addition to our decorating this year, a plastic nativity set (LOL). I do love the things you have made from the dollar store. If only we could have a white christmas.

Cheryl!
I am delighted to have a peek into your lovely home!
Your tree is perfection!
And I love this years Christmas ball wreath!
I had plans to link you with the Christmas Tour of Homes...but oh well...we only have our lights on the tree at the moment and those went out this morning! :(
And they're NEW lights!
Did get lots of decorating done though...will have to post pics later!
Blogging is pressure...having to meet those deadlines!
Can't wait to see if you get the prime lens from Santa!

I must say, I like last year's ornament wreath so much better than the very popular "ornaments strung on a hanger" wreath. For some reason, being able to see the tops makes it looks so much more interesting! The peppermint candle and dollar tree decor are just gorgeous! Love it!!! As always, great post Tidymom!

PS - I take the world's worst pictures, but I was really pleased with my Christmas tree photo that was taken at night. I turned an overhead light on, that was not directly overhead and it shared space nicely with the lights on the tree. Enough to help stuff "show up" but not enough to overpower.

It is hard to photograph Christmas decor. Especially the tree!!! And I say "Amen" to most of us having imperfect homes. I'd say it's at least 99.9% of us. Every time I take a photo I wish I didn't have to be so strategic. I always have to crop out some sort of mess. And even when I do get my room perfect, it only stays that way about an hour. Thanks for sharing your Christmas decor. I love the candy vignette the best.

Gorgeous decor Tidymom and I think it looks beautiful in your photographs too. I agree though Christmas decor is tough to photograph especially the tree. WHY is that?

If you haven't already get over to Bath and Body works and buy a Fresh Balsam candle and you'll feel like you have a fresh Christmas tree in your home. It's my new favorite candle and I get asked if our tree is real because of it. Hee hee.

Love all your bright red. So cheery! Christmas decor really is hard to photograph right. I must've taken a million pics to get a handful worth posting. The tree is especially tricky--they always seem to look better in person (mine do, anyway!).

Merry Christmas to you and your family! :-)

I love your decorations! And you're right, many of us (including myself) do not live in perfect homes...I just move the clutter to take pictures!

What great decorations! I love the red cone trees and peppermint stick display, and I also love both of the ornament wreaths! That is definitely a project I want to tackle for next year!

Amen to the imperfect homes. Cameras lie anyway, we all know we can CROP out the imperfect, jazz up the poor lighting and clean up the area where the camera will shoot...we might as well be real about it huh? I think your home is beautiful, I love it. Very festive and homey, and that is what Christmas decorating should be.

Happy Christmas,
Melissa

Thank you for your words about the IMPERFECT home! You're right it is SO easy to assume everyone else has it together. Your home is beautiful! Red is my favorite color and I love how you used it. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Imperfect or not...it all looks so beautiful!! I was just saying how hard it is to get good pictures of christmas trees and decor. I just have a cheap point and shoot camera and it is nearly impossible to capture the beautiful of the lights glistening and the ornaments sparkling. All of your decorations are gorgeous!!
